New Appointments at NYCOS

NYCOS is delighted to announce three new staff members to the Office team – a big warm welcome to Fionntan Curran, Rebecca Smith and Karen Steel.

FIONNTAN CURRAN

Fionntan was appointed in August as Administrator, taking over from Sarah Clark who has now moved into a newly created role of Production Coordinator. Originally from Wales, Fionntan studied at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama before working at a music school and developing his own music editing company.

As Administrator, Fionntan supports the wider NYCOS team with various activities and is the first point of contact for general enquiries.

REBECCA SMITH

Rebecca was appointed in September as Development Manager (Trusts & Foundations). A musician-turned-fundraiser, Rebecca studied music at Glasgow University and recently completed an MA in Arts, Festival and Cultural Management. This led her to a career fundraising in the arts, working at National Youth Orchestras of Scotland (NYOS) and Scottish Chamber Orchestra.

In the newly created role of Development Manager, Rebecca manages NYCOS’s relationships with grant-giving organisations and helps to deliver our fundraising strategy.

KAREN STEEL

Karen joined NYCOS in June 2022 in a freelance capacity and was appointed in October as Marketing Officer. Karen studied marketing at Stirling University and has since worked in several arts marketing roles for a variety of organisations including Scottish Dance Theatre and Byre Theatre. More recently she worked self-employed, providing marketing services for several theatre and dance tours in Scotland.

As Marketing Officer, Karen plans and coordinates the delivery of various marketing campaigns and activities throughout the year for Regional and National Choirs, Fundraising and Creative Learning.
