Wee Christmas Sing

12–23 December 2020

Wee Christmas Sing is a completely free project for children aged 7-9.

Every day at 11am from 12–23 December we will reveal a new song and musical game that is all about Christmas or winter.

Over the course of the project, the children will learn new songs, develop musical skills and gain confidence.

These songs and games are brought to you by John Thomson and Karen Clark. Watch a short introduction from NYCOS Creative Learning Director, Lucinda Geoghegan.

We’d love to see your own videos of these songs on social media using the hashtag #WeeChristmasSing.

This is a Youth Music Initiative funded project from NYCOS, Scotland’s youth singing organisation.

Day 1 - Ritsch, ratsch, filibom, bom, bom

For our first day of Wee Christmas Sing, Karen teaches us a song from Sweden about dancing around a Christmas tree.

Day 2 - Consider the Penguin

For John's first Wee Christmas Sing, he teaches us how to become penguins.

Day 3 - Christmas is Coming

It's Karen's turn with the Christmas bauble. You can sing this song with or without the clapping and tapping actions.

Day 4 - Little Robin Redbreast

John has a rhyme for us today. You'll need two small objects you can throw and catch in each hand

Day 5 - Rabbit Run on the Frozen Ground

Today Karen has picked a wonderful wintery song about a rabbit. If you have a ball that bounces you can join in with the actions too.

Day 6 - Räven raskar över isen

It’s John’s turn with the Christmas bauble today and he has picked a Swedish song to teach us about a fox running over ice.

Day 7 - Christmas Bells

For today's Wee Christmas Sing Karen teaches us a marvellous Christmassy song and cup game.

Day 8 - Jolly Old Saint Nicholas

John has a ball game for us today. Good luck finding out what you'll get for Christmas.

Day 9 - Toboggan

For our Sunday Wee Christmas Sing, Karen has picked a tongue-twister about a toboggan.

Day 10 - The Christmas Cake Song

You’ll need four cups for this song to put all your ingredients in. You can sing this song alone or as a canon, which John has displayed in a spectacular double act.

Day 11 - Sweetly Sings the Donkey

It's time to make your best donkey noises for Karen's final Wee Christmas Sing.

Day 12 - The Twelve Days of Christmas

Can you remember every single one of the twelve days and join in with the actions too?
