Go for Bronze has been used successfully for musicianship training in NYCOS Regional Choirs as well as in many schools across Scotland and beyond. However, we have been asked by numerous people about what to do with an older beginner. These sessions will compare starting a Kodály inspired programme with a younger beginner and with an older beginner showing a framework for both.

Applying an Aural Approach in Analysis of the Repertoire

This session is open to everyone but particularly relevant to Secondary and Tertiary Music Educators.
This workshop is use an aural approach to analysis key stylistic features of the repertoire. Taking a somewhat period-based perspective, participants will sing through selected examples of the repertoire and investigate the various components of the material for identifiable elements of style. The use of relative sofa is key tool and participants will learn how to utilise the solfa to assist in the understanding of compositional devices, melodic structures and harmonic outlines.
Ensemble Singing

Participants in this workshop will experience how to prepare a choral ensemble for the performance of some more challenging choral repertory through carefully planned teaching process. You will then apply your learning to planning teaching sequences for teaching easier choral songs.
Repertoire for Young Choirs

This session will provide an opportunity to sing through repertoire for all the various ages and stages of young choirs. Rediscover material you used to use and had forgotten, explore new songs, pick up some tips for teaching/rehearsing the songs…. and most of all, enjoy having a good old sing!
