Sounds Musical Twilight Training Sessions | Winchburgh Primary School, Broxburn

Free

FREE NYCOS Sounds Musical Twilight CLPL sessions for primary teachers in West Lothian with Lucinda Geoghegan.

Dates: 14th May  2024

Session runs from 4:00 – 5:30pm

If you currently teach Primary 4 in West Lothian and have NYCOS input or if you are a primary teacher looking for practical musical ideas to bring into the classroom, this is the perfect opportunity to develop your skills to continue or begin the musical learning in your class.

This twilight training session will give an overview of the new NYCOS Sounds Musical for resource for Primary Schools. This training explores the pathway to musical reading and writing taught through singing games, rhymes and active learning. By the end of these sessions, you will have explored the following topics:

  • Singing Games
  • How the games help develop the whole child
  • Using the games to embody rhythm and then make the rhythm reading conscious.
  • Using the games to explore pitch and then introducing solfa reading from hand signs, stick notation and stave.

As part of the NYCOS YMI project, all participating schools (Primary 3 teachers) will receive teacher packs and PowerPoint slides including recordings/videos of all games. There are three packs which should cover musical learning outcomes – linking to the CfE – for the whole school year (P3/4 level).
