About Paul Whittaker
Paul Whittaker is from Huddersfield and has been Deaf from birth. Music has always been a huge part of his life, and after getting a Music degree from Wadham College, Oxford and a Post-graduate diploma from the RNCM he founded a charity to encourage Deaf people to make music. In 2015 Paul left that job to pursue a freelance career but continues to be passionate about music and deafness.
For 30 years he has been signing musicals, operas and concerts across the UK and has worked with The Sixteen, RSNO, RPO, RLPO, Opera North! Britten Sinfonia and many other orchestras and ensembles.
During the pandemic, Paul has created many BSL videos for schools, music services and choirs including some for NYCOS, which led to him leading Loving Learning Through Music sessions in Dingwall and Aberdeen. He’s delighted to be part of NYCOS and developing further opportunities and resources for access and inclusion.
