MacMillan and Rachmaninoff at St Andrew’s Cathedral

£12 adult; £5 under 26s

Christopher Bell leads the National Youth Choir of Scotland in Sir James MacMillan’s The Culham Motets following its Scottish Premiere at the Edinburgh International Festival. The choir also performs ten movements from Sergei Rachmaninoff’s All-Night Vigil. Often called simply Rachmaninoff Vespers, these settings are based on the chant and liturgy from the Russian Orthodox Church. Written just over 100 years apart, the music of MacMillan and Rachmaninoff ideally suits the richness and depth of sound that National Youth Choir of Scotland creates. A concert not to miss.
