NYCOS Wee Sing
NYCOS Perth Wee SingAges: 7 - 8
Please note that this Wee Sing has now passed.
Perth Wee Sing is a completely free project that introduces Primary 3 children to singing through musical games. Over the course of the project the children will learn new songs, develop musical skills, gain confidence and make lots of new friends.
Wee Sing Parent
This is an absolutely brilliant programme, I can’t recommend it enough. My P3 did it last year, and had a wonderful time. I was so impressed with what the children could do after such a short space of time.
Each Wee Sing is led by a Choir Director, supported by music staff. All of our staff are qualified musicians and are required to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure check.
Wee Sing isn’t just about singing in a group; half the time is spent on musicianship where we start to teach children the fundamentals of music such as pitching, rhythm, sound production skills.
Now open to all P3 children
Perth Wee Sing is one of two locations where places were initially only being offered to boys as part of NYCOS’ equalities, diversity and inclusion plan which aims to tackle lower levels of participation by males in the performing arts. As there are spaces still available one week before Perth Wee Sing starts we have opened it to all P3 children.
Perth Wee Sing is completely free, however, spaces are limited so advanced booking is required.
Wee Sing is open to all P3 children. Talk to us if your child has additional support needs or if you require help with transport costs by either leaving a comment in the ‘special requirements’ box when booking or by calling us on 0141 287 2943.BOOK NOW
Wee Sing is for children in P3. However, if there are still spaces available one week before the start date children in P4 may also join.
In most cases this is not possible due to capacity restrictions, but there may be waiting areas in some venues.
In most cases, yes! But their friend will also need to book a place in advance.
Children are welcome to join another group if they are able to travel. Sessions take place in Aberdeen, Bishopbriggs, Dalkeith, Dumfries, Dundee, Edinburgh, Falkirk, Forfar, Hamilton, Inverness, Perth, Paisley, Stirling, Stornoway and West Calder.
Loose, comfortable clothing. Many children wear their school uniforms which is also fine.
